Dava J. Newman, Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Engineering Systems at MIT, will be discussing recent developments and applications of the “Bio-Suit.” A key role in the makeup of the “Bio-Suit” is attributed to “smart textiles,” which respond to body temperature, communications and spatial orientation. Medicine has also benefited from these advancements, particularly in orthotics, helping stroke patients and children with cerebral palsy.
