This lecture will give an overview of Hellenistic political propaganda through coins, with particular emphasis on Carthage and Iberia. The exceptional character of the Barcid dynasty in Iberia with its capital in Akra Leuke and the development of portraiture in the West in the 3rd century BC will be the main focus.

Co-sponsored by Harvard Art Museums and Department of the Classics, Harvard University.
