    Lecture: Spanish Art and Its Influence on Édouard Manet

    Enjoy this fascinating introduction to the canonical works of Spanish artists including Velázquez, Zurbarán, Murillo, and Goya. Learn how these artists incorporated technical formal elements like tenebrism, chiaroscuro and foreshortening to achieve theatrical effects in their paintings. WAM Instructor and Curatorial Assistant, Nancy Burns will illustrate how Edouard Manet incorporated his knowledge of Spanish Old Masters into his painting, The Dead Toreador, on loan to WAM from the National Gallery in Washington D.C. Cost is $15 for Members and $30 for nonmembers.
