MY PERESTROIKA, Director Robin Hessman, UK, USA, Russia, 2010, 87 Minutes, Documentary, Video. Filmmaker Robin Hessman follows five ordinary Russians living in extraordinary times — from their sheltered Soviet childhood to the collapse of the Soviet Union during their teenage years and the constantly shifting political landscape of post-Soviet Russia. MY PERESTROIKA has had a busy year: nominated for a Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, it was included in New York’s New Directors/New Films series, won its director a Center for Documentary Studies filmmaker award at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, and received a special jury mention at the Silverdocs Film Festival. In Russian with subtitles.
