Cellist Ian Maksin, "From Bach to Sting"

Russian cellist Ian Maksin is presenting an eclectic program of music for cello solo: J.S. Bach, Sting, Spanish flamenco, as well as Ian's own original music.
Ian Maksin gave his first recital in his native St. Petersburg, Russia at age six. Since then, he has performed as a concerto soloist with numerous orchestras throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. He has also appeared in solo and chamber music recitals at such major festivals as Spoleto, Ravinia, Norfolk in the USA as well at the White Nights Music Festival in his home Russia.
Ian's musical career encompasses many genres apart from classical music: he has collaborated with such artists as Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Gloria Estefan and many others. Ian has also performed at Lollapalooza in 2008 with Swedish singer Sofia Talvik and at the 2004 VMA award ceremony with P.Diddy and Snoop Dogg.

Saw this guy in NYC last year. He is the best thing I've heard since Yo-Yo Ma. In a couple of years he well be all over the place. Must see.
