"Imagine blending the sounds of Mardi Gras funk, soft rock, and reggae so seemingly it defies category. Now shrink that idea into a seven-piece ensemble, add a hip hop sensibility plus a hundred years of New Orleans jazz tradition, and you'll get the Louisiana sound known as the Soul Rebels."- Mardi Gras Digest
"...utterly uninhibited hip-hop hybrid is not to be missed."-ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE
"The missing link between Louis Armstrong and Public Enemy." - THE VILLAGE VOICE
WINNERS 2010 BIG EASY AWARD "BEST CONTEMPORARY BRASS BAND"
After their show-stopping performance in July for a full house, the Soul Rebels Brass Band return to Harpers Ferry for the clubs final night. The band has had a remarkable year; playing at The Montreal Jazz Festival closing celebration in front of thousands of people; appearing on the season finale of HBO's Treme performing their song "Drinka Little Poison" which is also on The Treme soundtrack; and The Discovery Channel's "After the Catch". While performing in Brazil for The 2010 Ouro Preto, the band lead a jam session where they were followed through the streets by exuberant fans. The band was chosen to perform the 2010 Superbowl Champions New Orleans Saints theme song "Bless you Boys" for CBS and for the championship parade in New Orleans. SRBB are currently finalists for Red Bull Street Kings; a new event designed to be a showcase and platform for the next generation of brass bands influenced by the rich musical legacy of the New Orleans streets.
Halloween will be the last night for live music at Harpers Ferry, but the Soul Rebels Brass Band is sure to make it a memorable one to say the least.
