    The Freedom Riders

This documentary tells the powerful, harrowing and ultimately inspirational story of eight months in 1961 that changed America forever, when 400 black an white Americans risked their lives by traveling together on buses from Washington, DC through the deep south to New Orleans, deliberately violating the Jim Crow laws. Timed for the 50th anniversary of the rides, the film features testimony from a fascinating cast of central characters: the Riders themselves, state and federal government officials, and journalists who witnessed the rides firsthand. Post screening Q&A with producer Laurens Grant.
