    At Home in Utopia

In the mid-1920s, thousands of Jewish immigrants managed to escape urban slums by pooling their resources and building four cooperatively owned apartment complexes in the Bronx. At Home in Utopia tracks the rise and fall of one community--the United Workers Cooperative Colony, aka the Coops, which became racially integrated in the 1930s with unexpected consequences–from the 1920s into the 1950s. The film is an epic tale of a two-generation struggle for equity and justice across barriers of race, nation, language, and convention. Post-screening Q&A with producer Michael Goldman
