Concord, MA: The Concord Chamber Music Society will present the Kalichstein- Laredo-Robinson Piano Trio in concert on Sunday, November 21st at the Concord Academy Performing Arts Center, 166 Main Street, Concord, MA. The concert will begin at 3:00 p.m., featuring two piano trios by Franz Schubert. Pianist Joseph Kalichstein, violinist Jaime Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson debuted as a newly formed chamber ensemble at the White House in 1977 for President Jimmy Carter’s inauguration. In subsequent decades, the trio has continually thrilled audiences and impressed critics with their virtuosity on the international stage, in recorded music and through the presentation of commissioned works while balancing their active ensemble schedule with highly acclaimed careers as soloists and teachers. Mr. Laredo and Ms. Robinson joined the faculty at Indiana University in 2005 and Mr. Kalichstein maintains his long association with the Juilliard School of Music. Chamber Music America named the KLR Trio “Ensemble of the Year” in 2002. Since 2003 they have been Ensemble-in-Residence at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Recently, the KLR has re-released many of its hallmark recordings of piano trios by Ravel, Shostakovich, Kirchner as well as its signature recording of the complete Beethoven Piano Trios. In 2008 and 2009 they released a four-disc set of the complete Brahms Piano Trios on the Koch International Classics label, following the release in 2006 of their widely praised recording of the trios of Arensky and Tchaikovsky. On November 21st, Kalichstein, Laredo and Robinson will perform the Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Opus 99 and Piano Trio in E-flat Major, Opus 100 by Franz Schubert. The Concord Academy Performing Arts Center is located at 166 Main Street in Concord, a few steps west of the center of town. The “Concord” stop on the MBTA commuter rail line from North Station and Porter Square is two blocks away. Free on- street parking is available and there are municipal lots nearby, behind the Middlesex Savings Bank, the Concord Post Office and Concord Free Public Library (across the street from Concord Academy). The facility is handicapped accessible.
