BOSTON THEATER/CABARET ARTISTS UNITE FOR EVENING OF FRANK LOESSER MUSIC AND TO BENEFIT LUNG CANCER RESEARCH

Star studded evening honors world famous cancer researcher

Boston--Theatre buffs and the Boston medical community come together the night of November 15 for the second annual “Life is a Cabaret”, an evening of musical entertainment produced by Upstage Lung Cancer, a non-profit organization that provides musical entertainment to raise awareness and funds for lung cancer research. This year’s production will feature the music of Broadway legend Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in BusinessWithout Really Trying).

An award winning cast of performers will combine their talent for this entertaining event. These include: LEIGH BARRETT, I.R.N.E. award-winning Boston-area favorite, award-winning cabaret, musical theater and recording artist BRIAN DE LORENZO, HILDY GROSSMAN founding member of the popular jazz/cabaret group, the Follen Angels, and popular Boston TV anchor, actor, and I.R.N.E. winner SCOTT WAHLE. DOUG HAMMER, veteran musician, composer, producer, and arranger will be musical director. LYSE ROBBINS, whose work has received rave reviews throughout New England, will choreograph the dance numbers. Emmy Award Winning Arts and Entertainment Critic, JOYCE KULHAWIK, will emcee.

This is also an evening of medical stars. DR. THOMAS LYNCH, head of Yale’s Cancer Center and formerly head of Oncology at the MGH Cancer Center, will receive the Upstage Lung Cancer, Fan Award for his brilliant research and compassion as a physician. Last year, the first Fan Award went to beloved Red Sox announcer, JERRY REMY, for his courage in speaking out about his own battle with lung cancer. In addition, the dynamic DR. FRANCINE JACOBSON of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital will talk about women and lung cancer.

In addition to the entertainment, there will also be an exciting auction and raffle (Red Sox tickets, memorabilia, and vacations). See www.upstagelungcancer.org
