Silhouette profiles cut from paper were popular with sailors as mementos of their loved ones left at home. While captains and officers could afford to take hand painted minatuares of their wives and children to sea, sailors brought the more affordable paper silhouette along with them. Create a lasting memory on November 11, 2010 at the USS Constitution Museum and take home a portrait silhouette hand cut by Carol Lebeaux, local silhouette artist. Original silhouettes cost $33 a piece. A duplicate copy, cut simultaneously, costs $12.00 each (free for Museum Members). Mats and classic oval frames are also available for purchase and Carol will mount and frame your silhouette on site for you to take home as a completed gift - great for the holidays! Silhouettes can also be created from photographs, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the USS Constitution Museum's educational programs.
