Welcome to its next meeting the Book Club will discuss American Passage, The History of Ellis Island by Vincent Cannato. In this well-written and evocative book, Mr. Cannato, Professor of History at the University of Massachusetts, does a masterful job of weaving together singular immigrant stories with the larger issues that confronted newcomers to America. The author expertly depicts the political battles that surrounded America's immigration policy and resulted in the restrictive policies of the post WW I era. Call 617.796.1450 for more information.
