The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), will celebrate the historic opening of its new Arts of the Americas Wing with a free Community Day on Saturday, November 20—the first day that the new wing will be open to the public. At 10:30 Malcolm Rogers, Anne and Graham Gund Director of the MFA, will welcome visitors in the Museum’s new Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Family Courtyard and doors to the new wing will open at 11:00 a.m. The Museum will be open until 9:45 p.m. with activities for all ages planned throughout the day, including a scavenger hunt in the galleries, watercolor painting in the new studio art classes, spotlight talks in the galleries and musical performances. Visitors will also be among the first to see Fresh Ink: Ten Takes on Chinese Tradition, the inaugural exhibition in the new Ann and Graham Gund Gallery. To mark this moment in the Museum’s history, November 20 has been proclaimed “MFA Day” in the City of Boston by the Honorable Thomas M. Menino, Mayor.
