A Story Swap to Share Your Stories With Cindy Rivka Marshall
December 5, 2010
As part of Gorse Mill Studios Second Annual Holiday Open Studios, on Sunday, December 5th, from 3-5pm you will have the opportunity to share your stories at Cindy Rivka Marshall’s Story Swap to celebrate the release of her new award winning CD: Bear’s Tail and Other Animal Tales. All ages are encouraged to come hear these folktales from around the world and to swap their own stories (5 minute maximum) about animal encounters, predicaments or endearing anecdotes about the animals we love.
Bear’s Tail and Other Animal Tales was released earlier this year and is her third CD. It has already received the Parent’s Choice Recommended Award and the Storytelling World Award. Her earlier recordings have won several awards as well.
In addition to the Story Swap, on both December 4th and 5th at 2 pm, Cindy will participate in Needham’s Tercentennial Celebration by telling the story of “Claire,” a textile worker who worked in the Thorpe – Gorse Mill when it was one of many textile mills in 19th- and 20th-century Needham. A new exhibit of historical photographs of these early knitting mills will also be on display. Gorse Mill Studios at 31 Thorpe Road will be open Saturday, 11am – 5 pm and Sunday, 12 – 5 pm. Other events throughout the weekend, include glass blowing, pottery wheel throwing and art exhibitions. All events are at no charge.
