Israelive Concert: Alon Yavnai, Amir Milstein, Bertram Lehmann
January 9, 2011
Veteran jazz- and world music performers Yavnai, Milstein, and Lehmann join forces for a genre-bending evening of contemporary jazz originals, Brazilian classics, and Middle-Eastern grooves, celebrating a rare visit by Grammy-winning Israeli pianist Alon Yavnai, renowned for his work with Paquito D’Rivera. Joined by flutist Amir Milstein, a founding member of the Bustan Abraham and Tucan Trio groups, as well as drummer Bertram Lehmann who has performed with artists such as the Caribbean Jazz Project, Tony Perez, and Randy Brecker, the trio will interpret a contemporary world music-influenced repertoire within the uniquely intimate, musically interactive setting that the Goethe Institute provides. The first part of the evening will feature cellist Yoni Draiblate in a program of compositions by J.S.Bach, G. Cassado and H. Villa Lobos, as well as a Boston Premiere of "Above All" for Solo Cello, by Israeli composer F. Namir.
