Two of the loveliest pieces ever composed make up one unforgettable concert. Our favorite young piano prodigy, George Li, joins SPM once again to bring new revelations to the most tender and delicate of the Beethoven piano concertos. That masterpiece from the opening of the 19th century is paired with a work from 100 years later, Mahler's sensitive setting of Chinese poems for solo voices and large orchestra. These six songs, performed by mezzo-soprano Gale Fuller and tenor Alan Schneider, feature instrumental colors from lush to tinkling to profound to match the moods of the texts.
