    This class will teach lap style guitar, sometimes called Hawaiian style, or dobro style, with the instrument lying flat and fretted with a metal bar. No prior experience is necessary, although if you already play regular or ‘armpit’ guitar, your skills will help you with lap style playing. Students can use almost any guitar to play this style, with the purchase of a cheap nut extender to raise the strings. This nut extender is easily installed and removed. Players who are already playing Dobros or lap style guitar are also welcome. We will focus on the styles of music students in the class want to learn, and cover all of the basic techniques you will need to play by yourself, or to accompany others. This class will be particularly helpful for those students who play with other musicians, and want to add some new sounds to their playing.
