    The Red Room at Cafe 939 presents Fresh Prospects, a showcase of the best up-and-coming Berklee artists reworking their favorite songs into intimate acoustic performances. This month’s artists are Karmin and Jen Waris. They will hit the stage at 7 p.m. for a spectacular night of talent and music.

    Karmin is a little band with a big sound. KAR•MIN [car-men] in Latin means “song,” with an altered spelling to hint “karma.” Armed with two voices, a guitar, and a wooden box; Nick Noonan and Amy Heidemann always put on a dynamic show full of catchy pop tunes, feel-good ballads, and rock/hip-hop inspired concoctions. Their debut EP, “Inside Out” was released in May 2010. Having covered numerous songs by Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and Bruno Mars, Karmin is perfect for pop fans.

    Hailing from upstate New York, Jen Waris is an inspiring vocalist. Drawing from influences like Sara Bareilles and Beyonce, she loves to express herself through light-hearted pop and genuine ballads. She has performed the national anthem for several professional sporting teams, including the Buffalo Bills. Her most recent performances have been as a soloist with Berklee’s a capella group, Pitch Slapped.
