    Sophonisba: Heroic Queen

In honor of Women's History Month 2011, we will be performing excerpts from the opera Sofonisba by the 18th-century Italian composer Maria Teresa Agnesi. Agnesi brilliantly sets to music the story of a Carthaginian princess, struggling to resolve the conflicts between power, love, honor, and death. Internationally renowned male soprano Robert Crowe joins rising stars contralto Renée Rapier and tenor Pablo Bustos in this extraordinary drama. Leading the ensemble is Radcliffe Fellow Laury Gutiérrez.
