OUTSIDE THE CITY

Explore the winter woods with seasoned snowshoers and outdoorsmen, Bob Goodwin and Bob Gibb. Discover Camp Denison Conservation Area's dynamic landscape under a quiet blanket of snow. Located at the Georgetown and Boxford border, this property offers forty-four acres of conservation land and a variety of features for visitors to enjoy including; views of Baldpate Pond, a beaver hut, remnants of 17th century human settlement; cellar holes and stone walls; as well as access to a well marked trail system and an acre of demonstration forest used for education and interpretation. We plan to cover about a mile of trail. Afterwards warm up with some treats next to the wood burning stove at the Camp Denison nature center! What better way to spend a wintery Sunday afternoon? Please bring your own snowshoes and poles, dress appropriately for your comfort and cold the weather (hats, gloves, etc.) Wear sturdy shoes, could be on ice, snow and uneven surfaces. We can recommend rental facilities, cross country skis are optional. RAIN DATE: February 27.
