Cole Porter. George Gershwin. Duke Ellington. These names are legendary for fans of jazz music. And for those who savor music by composers and musicians such as these, the evening of Sat., Jan. 29 will be a special one. Ahavath Torah Congregation in Stoughton will be hosting a jazz night that evening beginning at 7:30 PM. Lisa Yves has been seen on the “Today Show,” and heard on Boston radio stations WZLX, WBUR, WERS, WAAF. Yves was a finalist in the 2004 Boston Popsearch and performed with Keith Lockhart at Symphony Hall as well as with Harry Connick Jr. She performs regularly with her band at jazz festivals in the area and with the Rich Rancatore Quartet. Yves has also recorded Jazz for Kids, designed to teach children rhythms, harmonies, and the history of musicians, styles of traditional jazz, bebop and vocals. Joining Yves will be Ben Cook on keyboards, Tal Shalom-Kobi on bass, and Miki Matsuki on drums. A tasty selection of coffees, teas and desserts will be available.
