February 4 - February 5, 2011
The tri-annual Shared Choreographers’ Concert series (SCC) kicks off the new year with Ventures; performances on Friday, February 4th and Saturday, February 5th at 8pm.
Ventures features five new pieces ranging in style from modern, to ballet, to salsa with choreography. Melissa Webster, member of the Rainbow Tribe, has a new group piece, while Marsha Parrilla is offering a sizzling duet. Both Webster and Parilla have been part of the SCC in prior seasons. Kinetic Synergy Dance Company works as a creative collaborative; Rebecca Midler has created a breathtaking solo. Katherine Anderson has gathered several of her Oberlin College colleagues and shaped an intriguing ensemble work, with an original score.
The SCC provides an opportunity for these developing artists to have their work process supported and showcased in the Julie Ince Thompson Theatre at The Dance Complex. The mentors for this concert are Karen Campbell, Brian Feigenbuam, and SCC Director, Rozann Kraus. Michael Lupacchino and Lindsey Allen are the producers in training, facilitating the feedback and guidance the choreographers' creative process.
