Contempyrical (Contemporary/Lyrical Dance)
February 26, 2011
Contemporary and lyrical dance differ in subtle ways but both utilize techniques found in ballet, modern and postmodern dance. Both forms of dance demand an awareness and an exploration of body and movement and this will be the main emphasis of class. This class will focus on conveying emotion and musicality through movement. Dancers will also be given the opportunity to interpret music and movement. Choreography and music will be diverse, ranging from slow ballads to hip-hop/rock. Dance techniques and other physical disciplines such as contact improvisation, yoga and martial arts may also be included.
