Former Secretary of Defense William Perry (1994-19970 will present the annual Robert S. McNamara Lecture on War and Peace on Thursday Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m., in the JFK Jr. Forum at the Harvard Kennedy School. The title of his talk will be: Have We Reached the Nuclear Tipping Point? Clips will be shown from the acclaimed documentary “Nuclear Tipping Point,” which features Perry, Henry Kissinger, Sam Nunn, and George Shultz. Tickets are NOT required for the event. This is an annual address that was endowed by McNamara who attended the first lecture in October 2008. McNamara passed away in July 2009. Bill Perry is widely recognized as one of the “wise men” of American national security policy in this generation. Over his long and distinguished career, he has served as Secretary of Defense (under President Clinton), Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Development (under President Carter) and professor at Stanford, where he joined Former Secretaries Kissinger and Shultz and former Senator Sam Nunn in a 2007 initiative to persuade the US and other governments to embrace the vision of a world free of nuclear weapons.
