Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours), directs Nick Dear’s play, based on Mary Shelley’s Gothic novel about one driven scientist’s attempts to create life and the nameless creature that results from his experiment. Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil are embedded in this classic gothic tale.
Danny Boyle envisioned this production with both of the main actors (Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch) playing each role, the Doctor and the Creature, during alternating performances.
