    Massachusetts Historical Society Open House: The Coming of the Civil War

    On Saturday, March 19, from 10 AM to 3 PM, the Massachusetts Historical Society will kick off its sesquicentennial commemoration of the Civil War with its spring Open House. Visitors are invited to attend "Discoveries and Methods: Civil War Research at the MHS," a lively discussion about the Society’s Civil War resources; listen to a gallery talk by Librarian Peter Drummey featuring Civil War photographs; examine the presentation "The Adams Family: Views on Slavery and Sectionalism;" view the Society’s spring exhibition, "History Drawn with Light: Early Photographs from the Collections of the Massachusetts Historical Society;" participate in tours; enjoy refreshments; and learn about the Society’s collections, programs, and services.
