Skip Smith leads a student ensemble through a set of classic R & B songs featuring guest artist Ernie Isley. Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ernie Isley was born in Cincinnati, where the Isley Brothers group was formed by his older brothers. Isley has had a remarkable career, writing many of the Isleys' funk anthems, such as "Fight the Power, Pts. 1 & 2" and "Take Me to the Next Phase," as well as pop, rock, and R&B hits such as "Harvest for the World," "That Lady," "Voyage to Atlantis," "At Your Best, You Are Love," "Footsteps in the Dark," "Between the Sheets," and "Brown Eyed Girl," among others. In 1985 Isley's splinter group, Isley-Jasper-Isley, scored with their no. 1 hit "Caravan of Love." In 1990 he released his critically acclaimed guitar solo album High Wire, and in 1992 he was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
