On Sunday, March 20th , the Piano Heritage Series at the Parish Center for the Arts in Westford will be sponsoring a very special presentation and concert. This program will appeal to music lovers, history buffs, teachers and anyone interested in creativity during hard times. American Music Expert and concert pianist Leslie Amper will be speaking on and playing music from FDR’s Federal Music Project during the 1930’s. Leslie Amper’s lecture is a powerpoint presentation about the astonishing level of musical activity supported by Roosevelt’s New Deal Federal Music Program. It includes images and discussion of the performance and educational activities all over the US that reached millions of people in communities that had no previous musical activity. It also includes Ms. Amper’s imaginings about what this dramatic program might have meant to her 1930’s counterparts.
