John Murray: Isolation as an Art Strategy
April 27, 2011
New Art Center Faculty member John Murray will present the work of Paul Gaugin, Michael Heizer, and other artists with bodies of work that demonstrate the aesthetic and creative effect that isolation can have on an artist's work. Heizer's monumental work, "City" has been in-process for 37 years in the Great Basin in Nevada; Gaugin left France and his family for the island of Tahiti to produce his finest paintings. Join us for an evening that explores the challenges and benefits of working outside of society.
