Cumberland, Maryland-based psychedelic alt-country group Cotton Jones is Michael Nau (formerly of Page France) and Whitney McGraw. Their debut album Paranoid Cocoon (Suicide Squeeze, 2009) contains dark, rich, folky music with lovely harmonies that evoke everyone from Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra to M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel (She & Him). The evening will also feature Brooklyn's The Antlers, whose self-released Hospice (2009) has been called "a lullaby for the brokenhearted" (Insound).

It's an ambitious concept album that tells a story about trauma and dysfunction, yet doesn't buckle under the weight of serious subject matter. The music has been compared to My Bloody Valentine and Neutral Milk Hotel, with vocals that evoke artists as disparate as Jeff Buckley and Antony Hegarty.

Cotton Jones: "... a sound that's both rich and delightfully lo-fi, with vivid imagery and gorgeous melodies. Though the songs are lush and, at times, otherworldly, they're far from being overly sleepy or one-dimensional." -NPR Music

"Paranoid Cocoon's bedroom chamber pop spins with variety and subtle dissonances aplenty." - Paste

The Antlers: "One of the most beautiful and moving works I've heard in a long, long time. Just astonishing." -NPR's All Songs Considered
