Visit the Zoo and have some fun during April school vacation week, April 16-24. Discover all of the incredible animals that call the Zoo home and enjoy special zookeeper encounters, scavenger hunts and more!
Be sure to visit Jockamo, a year-old giant anteater at the new giant anteater exhibit inside the Tropical Forest. Giant anteaters are the largest known species of anteater, reaching 6-8 feet in length and weighing between 60-140 pounds. These animals can consume up to 1,000 insects in a few minutes with its sticky 2-foot-long tongue, and up to 30,000 ants and termites in a day!
While at the Zoo, don’t miss Aussie Aviary, home to hundreds of free-flight budgerigar, or budgies as they are affectionately called. Watch in wonder as the brightly-colored budgies, also known as grass parakeets, fly around you in a memorable, interactive experience. Purchase a seedstick and you may be lucky enough to have them land right on you!
The Aussie Aviary schedule school vacation week schedule is (weather permitting):
April 16-24:
11 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday-Friday
11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday
