Going for Baroque
Presented by Convivium Musicum at St. John the Evangelist, Beacon Hill (Boston)
June 13, 2009
|
A cappella masterpieces of the early Baroque! The Electors of Saxony made the court at Dresden a haven for Protestant composers including Hassler, Praetorius, and Schütz, shapers of the emerging Baroque idiom. Our BEMF Fringe concert will feature Schütz's masterful setting of Psalm 116, along with some of his best known German motets and Hassler's marvelously chromatic Ad Dominum cum tribularer.
