This timeless and beloved classic is based on Cervantes' "Don Quixote". It tells the poignant story of a dying old man, whose impossible dream takes over his mind. Its songs, "All the Same," "Dulcinea," "I'm Only Thinking of Him," and, of course, "The Impossible Dream," will linger in your thoughts and in your soul long after you've seen the show.       Went with a friend who enjoyed the production as much as I did. Excellant actors, voice projection, props and use of space. No BAD seats in the theater.

      A period piece anachronistically staged in a contemporary middle east warehouse The Seacoast Rep's version of La Mancha fails to reach its goal. Brendon Powers as Cervantes/Quixote gives a strong... Expand

      A period piece anachronistically staged in a contemporary middle east warehouse The Seacoast Rep's version of La Mancha fails to reach its goal. Brendon Powers as Cervantes/Quixote gives a strong performance as does Scottie McLaughlin as the Governor/Innkeeper. Other performances lack believability, the Muleteers specifically couldn't convince me they had any real interest in Aldonza. Sultry Aimee Corley, while having nice pipes, was unable to reach the depth of suffering needed to pull off Aldonza. Her conversion at the end lacked the hope and heartbreak necessary to be congruent. Craig Faulkner seemed as if he were waving about a dead carp most of the time. In the end the Seacoast Rep's performance of Man of La Mancha is mediocre fare, caught up in overused and tired ideas and concepts by a production team that thinks it is more important to make a political statement than good theater.
