Whether it’s the message in an imaginary storyline or the sheer movement of garments on the screen, the fashion industry is having its moment in short films produced by Prada, Chanel, and other large fashion labels. Fashion and Film/Video, two popular departments at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, have collaborated to tell their own tale of damsels lost in a city, desiring to find their way to the place where others are drawn together. Voltage 2011 will premiere on Saturday, May 7th, 2011, when the film will transition into a live runway showcase of MassArt Senior Fashion Collections at the Power Station in Boston’s South End. A formal parade of fashions, including men’s and women’s sportswear, bridal, swimwear, and avant-garde groupings including body proportions, iron fences, and tombstones, follow the film premiere. Along with designing and constructing their collections, the MassArt fashion students have also interned at companies in Massachusetts and New York such as Reebok, Armani, Anna Sui, Puma, and Karmaloop.
