Mozart Requiem and Bach Cantata 4

Choral Art Society of the South Shore, now in its 52nd season, will perform its spring concert on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 7:30pm at St. Ann’s by the Sea on 591 Ocean Street, in Marshfield, MA. The chorus, accompanied by its own professional orchestra, the Choral Art Society Orchestra, will perform Mozart’s Requiem. Featured soloists, all professionals from the Boston area, are Dana Schnitzer, Soprano; Brooke Larimer, Mezzo Soprano; Adrian Jones, Tenor; and Ron Williams, Bass. Danica A. Buckley is Artistic Director and conductor. Also on the program is Johann Sebastian Bach’s cantata 4, Christ Lag in Todesbanden, featuring Choral Art Society soloists, alto Robin Flint of Hull, soprano Sally Avery of Cohasset, and baritone Paul Frazer of Kingston. “Let Nothing Ever Grieve Thee, a short work by Johannes Brahms completes the program. The concert is being performed in memory of Ellen Brown, a long time member of the group and a beloved music teacher and church musician on the South Shore, who passed away last year at the age of 62. Ellen’s mother, Ethel Brown of Scituate, was a founding member of the Choral Art Society in 1958. Ellen and Ethel sang their last Choral Art Society concert together, side by side, in May 2009, when the chorus performed Mendelssohn’s oratorio, St. Paul.
