The Last Night of Ballyhoo
May 19 - June 19, 2011
Here we are in 2011 celebrating the 75th anniversary of "Gone With the Wind" being published - in the 'The Last Night of Ballyhoo' it's 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia and one person of the Freitag family can't keep her mind off of its movie-premiere that's about to happen. The excitement of "Gone With the Wind" and Ballyhoo (the formal cotillion that occurs during the Christmas season), swirls around the Freitag's household as Hitler poises to invade Poland. Through these events the playwright, Alfred Uhry, illuminates the struggle to understand what it means to be different and what drives prejudice.
