Time Traveler's Tour
July 20, 2011
In the 1850’s the Cambridge Railroad began its horse drawn carriage service from Boston to Mount Auburn Cemetery. The book the Railroad issued to commemorate this run included a guide through the historic cemetery. The object of the guide was to “lead the visitor through the most interesting portions of the cemetery and to call attention to everything on the route to enable the visitor to view Mount Auburn Cemetery as it is—as Nature, Art and Affection have made it.” This summer evening walk join us as we follow the Railroad’s guide through Mount Auburn as it looked in 1858.
