BalletRox is a Boston-based non-profit dance company founded by Tony Williams in 1995. Its mission is to break down racial barriers while enriching the community’s artistic experience through the creation of a diverse dance company. The company engages Boston’s underserved youth by providing dance scholarships to local children/teens funded by the net proceeds from the Urban Nutcracker performances. The opportunity to be enrolled in a structured dance school not only teaches kids dancing skills but also builds their self confidence and their sense of responsibility. Our commitment to racial and socio-economic diversity—in the studio, on stage and at the theater—provides dancers, audiences, and the local communities with concrete opportunities to meet and collaborate, and thus realize the capacity of the arts to unite people.
