Bilbo lives a comfortable, quiet life as a hobbit - one of a race of creatures about half the size of humans. His comfort ends with the arrival of the wizard Gandalf, who persuades Bilbo to set out with a team of dwarves to reclaim treasure from the dragon Smaug. Reluctant, Bilbo joins, and together they experience the most daring and heroic adventure of their lives!
