For six performances only, July 18 through July 21, HarborSide Films presents the 'return engagement' of the club/party format of TONYA AND NANCY: THE ROCK OPERA at OBERON, 2 Arrow Street, Cambridge, MA.

WGBH’s Steve Almond hailed the show as 'brilliant.' Based on the 1994 Olympic scandal and using real news stories, this new showcase is a collision of tragedy and comedy in this tale of two girls going for the gold! With libretto by Elizabeth Searle and music and lyrics by Michael Teoli, the rock opera is a dark comedy done with heart. The story is in a sense beyond satire, since the level of absurdity and melodrama in the real events is already so high. Directed and choreographed by Janet Roston, expect hilarity, poignant moments, a radical score and non-stop energy in this unique theatrical experience.

The cast includes Darcie Champagne (Tonya Harding), John Coons (Shane Stant/Knee Attacker), Timothy Lawton (Shawn Eckhardt/Tonya’s Dadand bodyguard), Kristen Lee Sergeant (Nancy Kerrigan) and the ensemble, Stephanie Friedman, Lennie Kmiec, Bart Mather, and Sarah Mullis.

The Club version of the show premiered at OBERON in January 2011 and drew enthusiastic sold-out audiences during two consecutive snowstorms.
