Hibernian Hall Celebrates Cape Verdean Culture

Hibernian Hall will be celebrating Cape Verdean culture with two prominent figures in the Cape Verdean community. On Tuesday, July 5, there will be a private opening reception for Nela Barbosa’s art exhibit titled “Caboverdeamadamente” or My Beloved Cape Verde that is open to the media. The exhibit is sponsored by: the Cape Verdean Consulate, Strela, CVC UNIDO, and the Cape Verdean Independence Celebration Committee. The exhibit will run from July 6-8, 2011 for public viewing.

On Thursday, July 7, Cruzamente, featuring vocalist Maria "Lutchinha" Neves will be returning to Cafe Tatant at Hibernian Hall. Lutchinha has performed and recorded alongside other major Cape Verdean artists for over twenty years. Her latest release "Castanhinha" abounds with strong vocals, fearless traditional grooves and a wonderfully rich Cape Verdean texture.
