SILENT FILM WITH LIVE ACCOMPANIMENT Saxophonist/composer Paul Shapiro presents his original score for the newly restored silent boxing classic His People, performed live by an all-star ensemble. The 1925 film tells the Lower East Side story of David and Rose Cominsky and their two sons. Morris is studying to be a lawyer and Sammy is secretly becoming a boxer. Director Edward Sloman's compelling vision of the painful depths and joyous heights of immigrant life endow the film with an exuberant vitality.
