Hood Rubber Documentary
August 25, 2011
Join us in Story Chapel for a screening of this documentary on the Hood Rubber Company of Watertown. Through interviews with former employees and East Watertown residents, and the examination of historic photographs, maps, documents and artifacts, filmmaker Roger Hagopian captured the history of both the company and the community that grew up in the shadows of its gian smokestack. Hood Rubber Company opened in Watertown in 1896, attracting Armenian immigrants newly-arrived from the Ottoman Empire, including refugees from the Abdul Hamid massacres and the 1915 Genocide.
