    Family Day: Printmaking and the Art of Observation

    Before cameras, GPS systems, and wristwatches, how did people record what they saw? navigate their journeys? tell time? The exhibition Prints and the Pursuit of Knowledge shows us how scientists and artists of the 16th century worked together—making books about animals and the human body, maps of land and sky, and sundials and other instruments—and shaped the way people understood their world. Activities will include...

    Before cameras, GPS systems, and wristwatches, how did people record what they saw? navigate their journeys? tell time? The exhibition Prints and the Pursuit of Knowledge shows us how scientists and artists of the 16th century worked together—making books about animals and the human body, maps of land and sky, and sundials and other instruments—and shaped the way people understood their world. Activities will include gallery explorations and art-making experiences.

    Recommended for children ages 8 and up.
