The Salem Theatre Company will present La De Les as part of its Music & More Series on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the STC’s theater at 90 Lafayette Street in Salem.

La De Les is influenced by Sigur Ros, This Will Destroy You, Brand New, MeWithoutYou, and Sufjan Stevens. They are a “shoegaze” (ambient/alternative) band who formed in 2008 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They have toured extensively throughout the Midwest and New England with recent performances at the Middle East in Cambridge and the Gulu Gulu Café in Salem.

The band features brothers Cody Nicolas (vocals and guitar) and Aaron Nicolas (vocals and bass), Aaron’s wife Jocelyn Nicolas (vocals and piano) and Sara Holbert (drums). Cody innovated a method of playing guitar which is clamped flat onto a piano stand. The strings are tapped and the result it a sound unique to the band.
