Artists have long reached lovingly into the past, seeking inspiration in the work of previous generations. Brahms' thorough study of Schubert gave birth to a pinnacle of the genre, Poulenc combines classical forms with his trademark French wit and elan, and Libby Larsen draws on 1940's popular musical language and rhythms of contemporary American English.

    Program:
Franz Schubert, String Trio in B-flat Major, D. 471
Francis Poulenc, Sextet for piano & wind quintet
Libby Larsen, Corker for clarinet & percussion
Johannes Brahms, Piano Quartet No. 2 in A Major, Op. 26
