TRIUMVIR invites you to take a musical journey to 18th century Scandinavia, presenting seldom-heard masterworks for violin, cello, and harpsichord by Johan Helmich Roman, ‘the father of Swedish music,’ and his countrymen Johan Agrell and Henrik Philip Johnsen as well as American premieres of works by Norwegian violinist-composer Johan Henrick Freithoff and Finnish diplomat, military officer, and musician Thomas Byström. TRIUMVIR brings this extraordinary music to life with vibrant, fearless performances on period instruments. Taking its name from the Latin for ‘three guys,’ TRIUMVIR is a trio of dynamic young musicians who blend serious scholarship with a sense of humor and who are not afraid to rock out, 18th century-style.
