Opening Night of the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s 2011-12 season features violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter in her first BSO appearances doubling as both soloist and conductor. World-renowned as a violin virtuoso for three decades, the glamorous Ms. Mutter has recently been leading concerts in which she is also the soloist—a practice common in the eighteenth century. For this special Opening Night program, Ms. Mutter performs Mozart’s Third and Fifth violin concertos—the most popular of his five works in the genre.
