    Husband and wife attorneys Adam (Tracy) and Amanda (Hepburn) Bonner face off in court and at home, on opposite sides of a primal battle of the sexes incited by a woman’s (Holliday) homicidal wrath for her cheating husband. Cukor mines the comedy and hostility of heterosexual tensions stoked by the showdown, as the Bonners’ affectionate banter buckles under Adam’s exasperation at Amanda’s transformation of the attempted murder trial into a case for equal justice for women.
