Anna Kagan takes her first teaching job in a junior high school in a poor Arab neighborhood on the outskirts of Paris. Her pedagogy clashes with the chaotic lives of her students, her idealism is tested in the teachers’ lounge, and her Jewish identity is assaulted by anti-Semitic slurs. Events in this gritty film spin out of control when Lakdar (Samy Seghir), an artistically gifted student with a severely injured hand, embarks on a misguided path of revenge. U.S. Premiere
